Volunteering at Briarwood

Briarwood needs the time and talents of volunteers in order to keep our camp operating to its full potential. Briarwood has limited full time staff positions.  The rest of this ministry is completed by dedicated summer staff, part time help, and many volunteers. Summer Volunteers

Volunteers are welcome to give of their time and talents in the summer.  Contact Jon Thompson, Program Director, at jon@briarwoodretreat.org or by phone at 940-241-2099.  In past years we have had volunteers serving as Camp Grandparents and with our Arts and Crafts Program (but their may be other possibilities too!).  Because of our responsibility for our campers, a volunteer application and permission to conduct a criminal background check is required.  Parents of campers may not volunteer the same week that their children attend.

Volunteer Retreats

Set up a time to bring a group to Briarwood and complete a project together. If you can commit to a minimum of 8 hours of work time over the course of the weekend, your retreat cost is very minimal.  Skilled and unskilled groups are welcome, and funding is often available through Thrivent.

Funding Volunteer Projects

Because of our limited funding, volunteer project most often need to be funded by the volunteer group.  We would love to be able to supply all of the material and equipment to host many different volunteer projects, but that is not possible.  Therefore one of the important aspects of taking on a volunteer project at Briarwood is also raising the funds to complete that project.  The staff at Briarwood will be glad to work with you on different possible ways to make that happen!
